Earthly Design Studio

I was born in France & my parents are from Morocco.  My love of pottery reconnected me with my childhood memories of rich warm colours of the Mediterranean. The metal inlays used has been inspired by Moroccan pottery from Safi, a style originating from the Berber.

My first career also influenced my pottery, in the engineering world all must be precise and balanced. But the Saggar firing process I use is very meticulous, yet I have no control of the end result, giving me a balance and freedom to feel the power of nature and alchemy.

Coming to the Blue Mountains just amplified my connection with the elements and spirits.

All Moroccan pottery patterns symbolise the word of God and protection of the home. Depending on the geometric form the meaning is male or female based, this resonates strongly in all my pieces.

To practice any art, no matter how well or badly,
is a way to make your soul grow... so just do it.
